Book Bonanza Week: 'The Ever-Changing Earth'

What an inspiring week! Every class immersed themselves in the wonderful book, 'The Ever-Changing Earth'.

Students produced stunning art work and engaging writing to represent the story, which all came together in a spectacular exhibition in the school hall for parents to enjoy.

A huge thank you to The Children's Book Project for their generous donations; we were thrilled that every child was able to take home two brand new books to keep and enjoy!

Spotlight on the Arts: Christmas Choir Auditions

The talent on display during our Christmas Choir auditions this week was phenomenal!

Forty children bravely stepped forward, and it was a tough decision.

A huge congratulations to the twelve successful students who have been chosen to represent Beckfield at the prestigious Leeds Winter Voices event in December. We can't wait to hear them sing!

Beckfield Bolt-ons

This half-term, our Beckfield Bolt-ons (after-school clubs) have been a huge hit, giving our students brilliant opportunities to learn new skills and explore creative passions! A huge well done to everyone who took part and tried something new.

🎢

Early Years Music Makers

Our youngest students in Early Years have been busy in Music Club! They've enjoyed singing, learning about rhythm, exploring different instruments, and moving to music. It's been wonderful to see them develop a love for music-making right from the start of their time in our school.

🎭

KS2 Stage & Outdoors

Key Stage 2 students had two fantastic options this term:

  • Theatre Club: Our budding actors have worked on improvisation, character development, and performance skills. They've built confidence and teamwork while having a huge amount of fun creating and performing short scenes.

  • Gardening Club: Students with green fingers have been out in all weathers, learning about planting, nurturing, and caring for our school environment. They've made such good on making our school environment look a lot prettier and learned valuable lessons about nature and sustainability.

KS1 Culinary Creations

KS1 students donned their aprons for Cooking Club! They learned kitchen safety and measuring skills while whipping up some delicious and healthy treats. They loved following recipes, getting hands-on with ingredients, and, of course, taking their creations home to share!

You can still sign up for next half-term's Bolt-ons - check them out on the Arbor app!

Educational Visits & Workshops

This half-term has seen our students explore history, budgeting, and design with some fantastic educational trips and workshops!

πŸ’°

Diamond Class: Budgeting at Rokt!

Our students in Diamond Class travelled to Rokt to participate in an exciting financial literacy workshop. This real-world experience helped them understand essential skills like budgeting, saving, and making responsible financial decisions - a fantastic link to their real-life learning!

Emerald Class had a fascinating visit to the historic Bolling Hall Museum . They explored local history, examined authentic artifacts, and gained a deeper appreciation for our area’s past, perfectly complementing their classroom studies.

Amethyst Class: Designing the Perfect Smoothie

As part of their Design Technology unit, Amethyst Class got hands-on with food science by taking part in a smoothie workshop with Innocent Smoothies. They learned about healthy ingredients, experimented with different flavour combinations, and used blenders to create (and taste!) their own custom-designed drinks.

Ruby Class: Unlocking Ancient Egypt

Ruby Class took a trip to Leeds City Museum for an immersive workshop on Ancient Egypt. They handled replicas, deciphered hieroglyphs, and learned about the daily life and powerful pharaohs of this fascinating civilisation, bringing their history lessons to life.

Diamond Class: Time Travel to Jorvik

Diamond Class had another enriching trip, this time travelling back in time to the Viking city of Jorvik in York. As part of their History unit on Vikings, they experienced the sights, sounds, and even smells of the past, gaining a vivid understanding of Viking life in Britain.

House Day Challenge: Moon Colony Mission!

Our recent House Day saw the whole school come together for an incredibly exciting Skills Builder Challenge!

Students from every year group, working collaboratively in their House Teams, were tasked with the ultimate mission: setting up a new community on the Moon!

The challenge required them to apply essential skills like Problem Solving (figuring out air, water, and shelter), Teamwork (delegating roles and sharing ideas), and Creativity (designing their lunar base).

It was inspiring to see the creativity and collaborative spirit on display as students debated the best location for their base, designed essential equipment, and presented their settlements. A huge well done to all our students for embracing the challenge with such enthusiasm!
